Adventure to the Midwest

Not a whole lot of baby stuff going on right now.  Last week Ryan and I traveled back to the Midwest for a last visit before the baby is born.  We started in Iowa to see Bob and Cait and then headed back to Illinois to see the rest of the family.  We saw a River Hawks game, went to the field museum, ate some good food, played some games, and just hung out.  It was a nice visit.  I had no problems flying.  I wasn't even that uncomfortable.  The worst thing was trying to bend over in my seat when I wanted something out of the carry-on.  That was not an easy task.

We did have a little adventure trying to get back to North Carolina.  Our flight was scheduled to leave out of O'Hare at 4:10.  On our way to the airport I received an automated phone call that the flight was delayed and would take off around 6:00.  So we get to the airport, check in and check our bag, and get into the security line.  Right as we get to the line for security, I get another call that our flight has been cancelled.  I ran down and checked the board and sure enough, it was cancelled.  So we went back to the desk and stood in line FOREVER to see if we could get home.  There were a couple ladies who were taking a really long time and a group of 16 trying to get back to Brazil.  Finally we get to the ticket desk and there are seats on the next flight to Charlotte.  She also stated that our bag would be on that flight too.  So that was lucky.  The next flight was originally scheduled to leave at 5:45, but was also delayed and we boarded about 7:10.  I have to say, they were really good about boarding quickly, and the flight attendants were really nice.  One lady attendant kept making sure I was ok since I was pregnant and gave me best wishes as we left the plane.

So, we make it to Charlotte ok and head on down to baggage claim.  We stand around the carousel, and our bags are nowhere to be seen.  We check the area where the unclaimed bags are, and ours is not there.  So we go ahead and file a claim, and they thought the bags would be in by the morning and would deliver it to us.  As we leave, I happen to look over to the unclaimed bags again and they had just brought a cart with about 10-15 bags on it...and there was our bag on the bottom!  Lucky again.  So, we can feel good that we were actually a lot more lucky that we could have been and the only bad things were the frustration and getting home past midnight instead of 7pm as planned!

So that's about it.

Oh, a cashier at target asked me what I was having.  I guess I'm passed the stage where I just look like I put on some weight and actually look like I'm having a baby now.  I'm starting to stress a little since we only have 2.5 months left.  Things aren't ready yet!
